Fireproofing and Fire-stopping

Fireproofing in commercial structures involves the application of materials by qualified Keating professionals to increase the fire-resistant ratings of floor framing assemblies, beams, columns and exterior steel walls and structures. Fireproofing protects the structural steel, providing valuable egress time to allow occupants to escape in the event of fire. Firestop systems, as required by the National Building Code of Canada ensure a measure of fire containment by the application of a latex, silicone mixture that requires application by hand and is capable of limiting the spread of heat, fire, gases or smoke through any opening.

Fireproofing and firestop systems are required and administered to code in such buildings as schools, hospitals, plaza’s, restaurants, hotels etc. where concern for human safety dictates the use of effective penetration seals.
