Fireproofing and Fire-stopping

Industrial facilities require protection from shutdowns and business interruptions. When Keating is called, clients can expect qualified professionals, trained in fireproofing and firestop systems. Fireproofing involves a thin spray-on application that provides fire-resistant ratings to columns beams, truss assemblies, etc. and prevents or delays the transfer of thermal energy to the structural steel. In industrial buildings, fireproofing becomes extremely important due to interior height and protects the large structural members, pipe racks, vessel skirts, saddles, etc.

Firestop systems provide a measure of fire containment to the walls and floors, including joints, gaps or penetrations such that it limits the spread of heat, fire, gases or smoke through any opening. Fireproofing and firestop systems are required and administered to code.
